Here is an excerpt from the Gloria:

and an extract from Cum Sancto Spiritu:

Antonio Vivaldi 's Gloria RV589 is a favorite of the choral repertoire. It is astonishing that this work, which has become so familiar to the listener and to choir singers , has only recently been rediscovered. Vivaldi's music was forgotten after his death, when he was remembered more as a violinist than as a composer.

It was in 1926 that Vivaldi enjoyed a renaissance with the discovery of several volumes of his music. The Gloria appears to have been composed between 1713 and 1716, and is thought to have been destined for theOspedale della Pietà in Venice. Inspired by works by Giovanni Maria Ruggieri, it mixes in stile antico and more modern movements. The great variety of styles, orchestrations and vocal parts is one of the reasons for its success with musicians and audiences alike.
